All these u-joint numbers confuse me 1330,1310,1410, 13 something 14 something. I have no idea what all those mean, So can someone list out the sizes for me and their most common applacation.
Kinda like this:
13?? is ?? inches across and the caps diamiter is ?? in. and they are most commonly used in 1/2 ton trucks.
Ya know something easy like that I can write down or print out. Then I will finally be able to know what I am talking about, and WHAT I"M LOOKIN FOR! lol :D

I just take them to the parts house and let them sort them out. :)
That way I have one less thing I have to worry about. Don't feel bad,
I don't know that stuff either.

Wow, thanks for all the info. Printed it all out for the future.
Also, what size u-joint would the pinion yoke on a front dana 60 use (79 ford) A 1350?

Ha ha, find me a way to put a 1410's on my YJ and I would go with them. I did find one thing out, the SYE I have on the Np231 has a 32 spline output, and the yoke from the front output of a fod np205 fits right on it. I have seen 32 spline 1410 yokes so I could probably fit one on there, but I dont know if there are any 1410 yokes for the ford 8.8 that I run.
I am trying to save some money. The rear driveshaft on my YJ is about shot, the ujoint caps on all 3 u-joints are spining in the shaft (its a CV shaft) I was looking at the front yoke on the np205 I have for my cherokee and noticed it looked a lot like the yoke on my np231's sye kit. I pulled the yoke off the np205, unbolted the driveshaft on my YJ and found out that its exactly the same. (1310 joints) I pulled the yoke off the 231 and found out it was the same as the np205 one (32 spline) So since I need a new driveshaft and dont have a lot of money, I thought I might be able to run a 78-79 F250 front driveshaft for the rear on my YJ. Just find a good used one, have it cut down to length and put new joints in it and hopefully save me from buying a brand new $300+ driveshaft. I found one for sale that came from a 79 f250 that had a d60 front, so all I would need to do is find a way to hook it to my 8.8 and hopefully save some money. I am gonna guess that the d44 uses the 1330, and the d60 uses the 1350? I should probably look for a shaft from one that had a d44 front because I am sure a 1330 yoke would be easyer to find for the 8.8 than a 1350. But sometimes you gotta take what you can get.

why not just replace the u joints in your current shaft? that would definately save you $$ over tracking down yokes and having a used shaft shortened.
also keep in mind when upgrading that a chain is only as strong as the weekest link, and it doesnt make alot of sense to upgrade to joints that are stronger than other components. ;)

Ford liked to use 1330 joints a lot, but I think that started in the 80's, but I dont recall them using a 1350 up front ever except for F450's and bigger.

The caps of the ujoints are spinning inside the yokes. I actually tried to replace them, the old ones just slid out and the new ones I pressed in with my fingers with no resistance. The yokes are wore out.

I know the transfer case end (cv end) uses 1310's. But my dad used to own a 78 F250 with a D44 front, he found a 79 F250 for parts with the D60 front. He swaped that axle in and everything bolted right up except for the driveshaft, the u-joint on the old shaft was too small for the yoke on the D60, so we had to use the shaft from the parts truck. It has been so long ago I cant remember what size it was, and the truck has long since been sold.
But I think I am gonna call tom woods driveshafts and talk to them. Seing as they are the ones who built the driveshaft. Its only about 3-4 years old and I have kept it greased. I think it should have lasted longer than that.
