A number of weeks ago, several of you out there suggested installing an electric fuel pump to halt the apparent vapor-locking problem I was having during the sumemr heat. I did that and have even replaced the mechanical pump. Now, unless the electrical pump is running, the car stalls out with just the new, mechanical pump doing its thing. As soon as I switch on the electrical one, everything is fine. My mechanic thinks that perhaps the mechanical one can't pull the gas through the new (diaphram) electrical pump. Anyone ever run into this problem? If that isn't the answer, any other thoughts? I'd like to not run the electrical one and only use it as a back-up in hot weather when my 1987 GW overheats, but maybe I'll have to keep them both running year-around! Thanks, Jim (turkeyman).

Your fuel condition is described in the link below. And yes Jim I’ve sure been there before but not again… Your mechanic seems to know what he’s talking about.. Read the link ..It’s all there.

Thanks, Don S. I had read the link prior to 9/18, but had not caught the update. Sounds like I still have some thinking to do about the problem.
