I have a 1987 j20 that twists the occasional axle, It has the wide trac axle and i ovaled my inner shaft on the passanger side and was wondering what would have the right length at the junkyard to work in my truck. I tried searching but im kinda in a hurry as it sits in a swamp.

would a chebby 10-bolt?? you have hi pinion so not sure
someone will know for sure
edit: now I see you have an '87
Straightedge,
I've got a couple of pairs of inner shafts for you, I'm near Escanaba.
I also think a 74-79, F@rd inner long side will work for you on that.

I always thought the inner shafts from anything but a Jeep were different lengths since everything else is wider than Jeep. Making the donor to be another 80 and up WT Chero or J Truck
I swapped all the stuff from the ball joints out from an 85, J20 for the same stuff from a 79 ford 1/2 ton dana 44 frontend.
And we compared the axle shaft, the long side/inside on both was the same, the short side/inside is where all the diferent length was.
And the shafts from a pre-1980 FSJ WT, are different lengths from the post-1980 FSJ's
FYI.
And, straightedge, got any parts to trade? like 1979 and older WT axle shafts? Or? I suppose cash would work too, $25.00 a piece for the inners sound OK?
