I was just wondering if I have an accelerator pump problem.

1) I have a stumble/hesitation when I accelerate from like 1/3 pedal when up at medium speeds, to pass, for example.

2) It has no hesitation upon acceleration from the stop position.

3) I have a bit of trouble starting in the morning, like she's not getting gas. I have to pump a lot.

4) I smell gas in the cab after she sits a bit after being driven.

This Motorcraft 4350 4BBL carb was recently *professionally* overhauled (may go back!!). Fuel pump is new. Fuel is clean. Fuel filters are new. The hard start could be choke, I guess. Higher RPM hesitation could be tranny shifting adjustment, I guess. Any thoughts??

I have the same start up problem, I traced it to the fact that the carb lets the fuel drain back down the supply line. anyone know if you can get check valve?

That's what I was thinking! When I had my clear fuel filter inline before the fuel pump, I could watch the fuel fall back down. I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before. I have a '76 Wag/360....isnt't there some sort of valve back near the tank? My service manual talks of this, but then, my whole system is a bit different than the book.....
