Anyone have any experiences with the Auburn ECTED electric locker? Ill be running 4.10s and 32s with a 700R4 overdrive, and will be doing some medium wheeling, but mostly street duty. I really want a selectable locker and I really want a Limited slip when not locked, and this is the only option for a AMC 20 rear. I would do a ARB but I dont want an open dif for daily driving, I want the performance of that limited slip.

Eventually Ill do a selectable in the front too, right now its between the ARB and the Electrac, but who knows what else will come up for the D44 by then...

Opinions?

Thanks,

If ected and electrac are on in the same according to the guys over at pirate they are not any good. One account I read the guy said he had to keep adjusting it to make it work correctly he finally got so tired of it he pulled it and sold it cheap to get rid of it

The Ected and the Electrac are not the same unit. The Ected shifts similar to the ARB with a modified bearing allowing electric wire in, instead of Air. the Electrac uses a fork mounted through the cover, so everytime your axle deflects you have to readjust, great idea terrible design. I have heard a lot of good reviews about the Ected, just expensive thats all.

Yea, I remember reading about the two electric lockers, one with the cover mounted shifter, and the other with just a wire running into the diff. I think that would be the way to go, no leaking air lines plus the extra money buying the hoses pump, wireing kit for the pump and all that only to deal with leaky air lines. Heck with that one all you need to do is run a hot wire from a good switch and your good to go, and its a limited slip when un locked to boot. If I could afford it I would love to have one.

Surprisingly the ECTED goes for about $550, compared to $800 + air compressor for the ARB, and $900 for the Electrac, so its priced about the same as a Detroit Locker. Seems like a good deal to me. I guess Im going to go for it, and hopefully itll work well, and theyll come out with one for the Dana 44 front in the future.

Keep us updated about this. I have been thinking of getting one of these.

I have read about others having problems with the air lines with ARBs but I haven't had a problem to date. I brought them out of the top of the pumpkins and there is very little exposure.

It warks great not a problem and what a difference off road. Totally worth it.

The other one to check out is the Eaton E-Locker, when lock it is a full on spool like the ARB where at the Auburn Ected is a locker and can still unlock ;).
I have personal experiance with the Elocker and found it very impressive.

I did a little looking, and I havent seen a listing for a ected for a 35 spline dana 60. But there is one for the e-locker. I might just look into that one.
