After the last Tellico trip I realized how tippy my waggie has gotten, and after seeing my dad go over I decided to do something about it. I sold off my Tadsal roofrack to another member. Removed it today and realized I forgot how heavy it actually is! I Liked the look with it a lot better, But it's not worth tipping over. I used the money from that to help fund my next mod after the ECI. Look at the pics and you'll understand.

Cool. I never understood the whole roof rack thing. Great for carrying gear, terrible for serious wheelin!

Haven't used it for carrying gear since I had a 6" spring lift! I can fit it in the carwash now too.

BTW, Anyone interested in a "cage kit" please send me a PM. The cage is 1.75" DOM and will fit inside of a waggie. Very similar to the one in my choptop.

PM sent about the cage kit. That would make a good start towards a choptop for me :D

LOL, yea, I hear you Dan, but they were actually never made so 7' tall rigs could throw more junk on top, but, do you actually take your rig to a car wash?
I never have, of course, I have never washed it ever, don't see the point.
Still have my 2003 Ouray ribbon attached, or what's left of it.
Glad the sale went well.

The car washes around here have 10ft of clearance, you can practically fit a dump truck into them. LOTS of lifted trucks around here though.

I will probably have to ditch my roof rack one of these days, but it will probably be on the same day that I cut the top off.

depeneds on how you use your rig. i agree i wouldnt want to carry stuff on the roof of my trail rig,if i can help it. i like to carry minimal stuff with me to keep weight down-only very basic primitive tools. i leave the welder, big toolset, spare parts, etc. in the tow rig.

now on my suburban the roof rack comes in very handy. i carry tow rig and trail rig spares up there, sometimes other stuff. i wouldnt give it up on my burb :)

Washing is important depending on what part of the country you live in. I made the mistake of not washing cars during the winter and paid the price. I went from a no rust mustang to a rustang in about a year and a half. I will be ****ed if I ever let an AMC rust :) But I own a pressure washer now :)

Hell I barely wash it b.c I hate breaking out the sponges and pressure washer and soaps. But now that It will fit in the car wash, might as well.

It doesn't take much weight up there to notice a difference... so I found on Golden Spike. I was already planning on running the rack empty next time I'm on a harder/tippier trail. :D Makes sense to take it off for extreme wheeling, but I didn't build mine for that, so, the rack ends up being quite nice to have.
