I grabbed the proportioning valve off of a mid 80's J-10 in our local junkyard in order to work with my disk braked dana 60 front. It has what looks like a connector for a wire of some kind coming out of the top that I'm not sure of what it is. My teacher says that It is probably a wire to the brake light on the newer truck that warns you if you lose pressure somewhere. Does this seem right? Can I run with it un hooked? My plans are to plug up one of the front outputs and send a line from the other one to power both front brakes from a Y splitter that is mounted on the center of the axle (it came with the axle), does it seem like it would work?

Thanks in advance.

The wiring hookup is for your idiot light. I've got the same thing. Mine isn't hooked up, so I'd guess yours will work fine like that too :) As for the plumbing question, I'd think it'd work. But you're best to try it away from pedestrians and small animals first :-p Big animals are ok.....they're more resiliant.
