Once they open I'm going to get a harness today from a junkyard. I would love to get a painless one but just can't afford $400 right now. But, I am going to go thru and clean every connection and grease it before I hook it all up. I looked around town and can't get any resistor wire. Radio Shack can order it but that's the only place that I found that can get it.
About some of ya'll that had said that you don't have one but just a regular wire instead I can't do that. I have a Mallory Unilite dist. and in the instr. it says that you have to have an inline resistor. I'm going to add and improve the old grounds that were already in in.
Well here starts another fun weekend. After I'm done I'm going to offer beer and incense to the jeep gods and pray that they find me worthy once again.

I don't understand why you don't just get a resistor and forget the special wire. Whats the difference between the resistor wire and a standard resistor? I'd think you could just solder a resistor in, heat shrink it and be done.

i'm thinking of also rewiring my mule but insted of geting anothe wiring harnes i probably will costume mine and wire the alt streight to the batt instead of going inside since i change all my gauges and i replace the amp meter with a voltage one as any one done this before? (costume rewire their rig) tongue.gif

For a lil while I had had a ceramic inline resistor but didn't like how the thing would start glowing and getting all hot. I just sorta figured while I was having to go thru all this trouble if this other one wasn't any good then I would go ahead and change it. Does anyone know why you are supposed to have it in the first place?????? What purpose does it serve?
