Jim wites:
Wanted to get a jpeg of my Wag loaded on the IFSJA site. It is an '83 Wagoneer Ltd with 175,000 miles and counting on original 360 motor. All stock. No lifts. This photo was taken at our First Annual GW's in GW Forest gathering here in Virginia October '98. We enjoyed some fun cruising and offroading, did some good community service by picking up over 10 bags worth of trash in GW Forest at one of our stops, and had an all Jeep camp site (except for the F*RD pickup which was used to tow in Krista the Jeepstress' Wag Splendid). Even had two baby Jeeps tag along with the biguns.
Let's see...usually you guys put some info on stuff done to the Wag recently.....Ok, cleaned fuel tank and replaced sending unit, pump, and fuel lines; recored radiator; new exhaust system; repaired rear window (channel had corroded and broke in two) and made it functional again (got rid of the 2X4's holding it in the up position); replaced all window seals; redid vac lines all around; fixed charcoal cannister purge signal vac tip; installed new glovebox; replaced non-stock antenna with another stock one; replaced rear axle bearings and seals; pulled both front wheels and hubs, installed new bearings, turned 1 rotor, replaced the other, and installed new pads all around; replaced the motor and tranny mounts; and finally, my wife's contribution: sheepskin seat covers (to cover the cracking leather seats).
Future plans....let's see...first, stop (or at least minimize to livable levels) the Valdez-like oil leaks on my rig by replacing seals; rebuild the carburator; attack the rust problem vigorously and repaint the Wag; redo the headliner; do a body and/or spring lift (probably 2-3") and finally, do my first engine rebuild. Fortunately, recent compression check showed excellent results for the mileage this beast has, but oil consumption is my worst problem currently. If I could just get that down to a reasonable level, I'd be a much happier camper, literally.
