View Full Version : Should my '79 have an air pump
I checked last night and my Wag does not have an air injection pump, should it?

Yes. I had a '79 WT Cherokee w/360. I am assuming your Waggie is powered by a 360 as well and I would be totally shocked if an air pump was not required with the 258. Keep in mind my vehicle was originally delivered into California. You may want to contact Austin Jeeps @ www.austinjeeps.com (http://www.austinjeeps.com) Good luck.

Thanks Fernando.
Anyone else have a non-CA 79 with a 360 that can verify if the airpump is required?

I have a non-CA '77 and the factory TSM specifies that an air pump was standard equipment. I would guess that your '79 should have one too.

I have a '79 360 (49-state). It had an air pump on it, which I have since removed...
Dang!
I hope the 401 will pass with the 4bbl and no airpump. My 77 Nova passed the sniffer with dual exhaust, no cat, charcoal canister, aftermarket 4bbl and intake. I know the emission requirements are lower and would think the Jeep would have no problem; however, I've had a string of bad luck this year.
