Well, the old Cherokee survived her first roadtrip (1920 miles!). EXCEPT for the rear window, which shattered on the 4th morning of our 14-night camping trip. Been breathing in exhaust fumes for most of those miles!
We tried to have the rear window replaced while we were down in the desert. The glass shop tried out 2 different pieced of glass, but both were too big. My window is encased in a stainless steel(?) frame. I've got the Cherokee parked up north in my Dad's garage now that we're home (can't very well leave her on the street in San Francisco with no glass...) - a glass shop is coming out again tomorrow to try to put new glass in, but I'm anticipating that it's not gonna fit again.
Has anyone else had to replace their rear glass? We got the tail gate pretty well disected while at the glass shop last week. The frame is out & ready to go. Just wondering if I need to hit the junkyards, and if so, if anyone knows what years/models glass will be compatable?
PS - nothing like taking your recently-aquired FSJ on a road trip to really discover how much work it's going to need! I'll be posting A LOT in the next few days - boy do we have some questions! smile.gif
