Hey, as you all know, Brandon is getting his wish and moving his family to Germany to serve our country. I know I speak for many when I send him our thanks for, not only the work he has done for us and the ECI, but for accepting the challenge of a military lifestyle and serving the good ol U.S.A..
Good luck Pachey's and thank you all.

I have volunteered to organize this years ECI with the knowledge that most of the ground work has been done.

So......this years ECI will be at Uwharrie Natl. Forest...June 2-4

This coming year will be as fun as the last few for sure. Granted URE aint that hard core, but there is enough to challenge all but the truly hard cases. In the future I will volunteer to organize this event at URE for the same weekend.

I got involved in this internet thing to meet y'all, not razz each other over the phone lines. I have made friends, with several people I met at URE over the last two years, and I hope to meet even more. Come on out and wheel it, or wax it *cough...Bob Davis*, hang out, camp out, shoot, fish, ride your 4wheeler. Bring the kids, grandma, dogs are supposed to be tied up, but welcome. The place has lots to offer.

I hope that all the vendors in the past that have had positive response to their participation, will again join us in papering Ryans Jeep. tongue.gif
This year however if we actually get some things to give away, only FSJ owners will win the products donated by the FSJ vendor. Sorry if it sounds elitist...but we are FSJ snobs after all. No 'yota owners winning Wagoneer tail gate pads etc...

The event is open to all members of this forum and their guests and any other sucker dumb enough to drive an FSJ. This is an FSJ event and thats what we all want to see. But if your Chero project is in the shed collecting dirt when the ECI comes 'round...wheel the family S-10 Blazer...none of us care.
I would also like to extend a welcome to S.O.R.A., 2ndDay's friends and club members that have done so much for this event...even though many of them drive...jap junk tongue.gif ...thank you all and we hope to see you in '06.

More to come as we get closer...

I hope to see y'all there.

Good luck Pachey's and thank you all. Thanks for the kind words, its really just a coverup I had to create because of all the hate mail I got from planning this thing :D Good luck! Seriously, I might try to fly in for this next year...

A few questions Casey:

-How are people gonna sign up this year?

-June 2-5 is a Thursday-Saturday....can people stay till Sunday/Monday?

-Since its going to be at Uhwarrie, Group Camp again?

Let me know if I can help in any way, you got my stuff so that should get ya started :D ;) tongue.gif

YOU ARE THE MAN!

EDIT-Dont forget to list this in the events forum too please tongue.gif

Plenty of time left to post stuff about June. I dont have a web site of my own...yet. Still a noob to the mighty pc. However I will come up with a registration plan. I think that the group camp is perfect, plus it keeps all of us rif-raf together.

Folks should know that camping on the trail (free)is ok as well. There are plenty of great spots on the trail as well as the group camp. If you want some more privacy. No facilities on the trail, but very secluded...until every 4wheeler in NC goes down the trail at 03:00. Last year there was still plenty of room in the group camp.

Like I said there is alot of time to work out details and get our rigs ready. Suggestions, other than...have it somewhere else...are welcome.

ill be most likely trailering mine as well as i dont think that 4.88 gears on a worn out 304 will make it twice there and back.

If you head down US29 or I-95 through VA, I will ride with you Yankees. You would should best go down US29 because people fly down 95 and since we would be doing a convoy it just might screw up the flow of cars going down I-95. If you do decide to hop over to US29 from I-95 you can pick me up at the Quarles gas station in Culpeper.

I will be driving mine down. I think it is going to take me about 4 1/2 hrs. Because it took me 5 hrs to get to Rockingham in my J-10.

You'll have quirks as long as you own it, they were designed into them, sort of like the gremlins in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons from WWII.
Hey, come to think of it, Willys and Kaiser plants built vehicles and ships during that war, so they may BE gremlins. Would explain alot.

the Chief takes up the whole trail!
Todd's rig did awesome on the trails and he proved that an FSJ can do plenty of the trails without too much body damage. It's stock and sits on 31" BFG A/T's.

I highly recomend a spare tire and the stuff you would need to change one on the trail ;) $5 a day for your trail pass, or $30 for the season. Wife, kids, dog, guns, (if you want to go to the range) I took 5 last year and never made it to the range.

If you ask Quadra-Clint he'll say "don't forget the t.v."....if you ask the War Wagon they will say, "one of everything"...GAWag would say, "every tool you can fit on a 6x10 trailer".

Oh and a roll of toilet paper, just in case Ryan brings his new Jeep tongue.gif

Group camp in a National forest. Tent, trailer, or Jeep camping, they have toilets and showers, you bring any and everything else you need.
Alcohol is *ahem* technically against the rules, you will be fined if you are caught by a ranger.
Trail rides from mild to wild are formed several times of the day or night.
Trail/NFS guide here:

Uwharrie Website (http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreation/uwharrie/)

You new guys have to bring & cook dinner for everyone on Saturday night.
Just kidding about that part. :D
My 1st time was last year, but I will be there from now on.
Oh, and if anyone with the last name Casey (more than one) comes around, keep your eye on your ride or it could go missing parts. tongue.gif

I plan on bringing my Chief with a SOA and shackle flip, 4.10's, lock-lights, 34" Swamper LTB's (hopefully be on a 36" TSL by then). Last year I had some P235 Tiger Paw radials on an open diffed GW. I had a lift kit on it though tongue.gif

Not really. The best thing you can have is some aggressive tires, and some body protection. Stock wagons do well but get a bit dinged up. Even the easy trails can provide nice dents in places. Two styles here:
Casey's Style : Get in the throttle, close your eyes and just bounce off any trees, rocks, or banks that happen to be anywhere near the trail.
GG and most everyone else style: : Pick your line for the best way through, around, or over an obstacle, without getting stuck or suffering damage.

:D

(I came away last year with only a minor dent on the bottom of my right rear rocker that isn't visible unless you look for it, and I wrapped my tailpipe around the rear axle, but that was mostly because I knew it was loose and didn't repair it before hand.)

Many a stock waggy or J-truck hit the trails last year.

Green Giant
01-17-2006, 11:21 PM
I forgot, one other style.
Bob Davis/Gasoholic Style: Park 'em in the field and polish 'em.

(Never did figure out how Bob drove in on gravel roads and still didn't have a speck of dust on his truck?)

I am SO pumped about the ECI, this will be my first time, I am still deciding whether to bring the j-truck or the chief, the j10 won't see any trails, maybe Bob can show me some waxing techniques, so i am trying to have the chero ready so I can bring her instead and have some fun on the trails, hopefully i will have the lift installed by then too smile.gif

Ok, so I did the mapquest to Troy, NC. So how far away is Uwharrie?

I'm up for the whole convoy thing too :D

Troy is ten miles or so away. Just follow NC Hwy 9 to Eldorado and the outpost. Pick up your trail passes ($5 a day) and get a map. The trails are mild to difficult in places. Most stock rigs can do every trail out there. They might get a little banged up but they will make the tough trails. Your rock buggy type rigs can be challenged in a few spots as well, but not too much. The trails will be listed by their rating in a thread when we get closer.

i heard it cost quite alot for the group camp spot is why i was hoping. either way i hope they are there. we need as many as we can get ya know. even if i have to pay for it its no big deal. how much would it cost individuals for the weekend at the park? anyways i just got told that i might not be going this year. our base is having some inspection going on ECI time. and the no-leave policy is in effect during the inspection. they sent it up to our chief to see if i can go b/c i forecasted it like soon as i got back from the sand box. i have put alot of money into getting my truck ready for the ECI so im hoping they let me take leave to go with it. im crossing my fingers. all i can do is wait now for my leave to be approved or disapproved.

For you Newbies, looking forward to meeting you. Speaking of which, Casey/Brandon: Have either of you considered ID tags/stick-ons/badges or whatever to identify us on sight so we can match faces to web monikers and/or real names and vehicles. I get a real kick from reading the posts, and some of them are so funny and pertinate that I want to meet the authors in person. Some form of ID would really help. Yeah, I know some "post-ers" would like to remain anonymous, and that's OK. But even a few would make for more comraderie, I think.

As for trail difficulty, Newbies, I run a stock J4000 pick-up with 31's and open diffs on the mild trail with no problem--mostly in 2HI-- and still have lots of fun. (I offered to pre-run for Bob D. but he still wouldn't take his shiney Honcho out.) Maybe this year. Huh, Bob?
