View Full Version : NP229 input shaft to NP208??
I have a Ford NP208 laying around and I was curious if the input shaft from the current t-case (NP229) would swap in? Anyone with experience on this? Thanks

That was something I looked into at one time. I have swapped GM inputs into the Jeep 208. I also compared the NP229 and NP208 inputs and they apear to be the same thing. Just have never actually done the 208 229 input swap. I gather you are thinking of a Ford Trans in front of a Jeep NP229? Personally, since you have the Ford 208, I would use that. The 208 is a far better than the 229
I want to swap the Ford 208 into the waggy and keep the 360/727 combo. If I could trade for a Jeep 208 I would do that. Since I have both (t-cases) it seems like it would be easy enough to change input shafts. Total motivation is $$.

I think you would be further ahead to hold out for the NP208 Jeep version. If you are able, I have a good basketcase NP208 I would sell.
Thanks, prolly run the NP229 until it breaks. Just want to get it on the road, I've also thought of a dodge 203 range box mated to a Ford 205...who knows?? Just wait and see what I have laying around at the time.
