OK... been on the road for two days (today being 2nd day)

When I installed the new shaft with 1350 slip... I still have a bit of side-to side play between the yoke tabs at the ujoint caps.... I have inspected the yoke for obvious wear... THERE IS NONE THAT I CAN TELL.... but that is besides the point.

After installing and driving... she was smooth as silk....

on my way home last night.. I got on it....when she shifted from 1st to 2nd, I picked up a decent vibe from the drivetrain....

I went under and checked the rear joint at the 14ff yoke and sure enuf, the joint had slid to one side!

I took a brass punch and hammer and re-centered the joint and test drove... smooth as silk again... I just cant get on it WOT yet...

Now... am I missing something? this is the 2nd 1350 joint I have had in there and they both have the same slop.... it's a tad less than 1/8" total slop... so less than 1/16" on each cap

any ideas? thanks

I think I will just buy a new yoke.... but this bothers me... NEVER seen this before on ANY vehicle..

are you missing a c-clip on the caps? (not sure how your setup is though)

caps are solid to the yoke... strap-type... c clip are on the slip side.... tight at the slip... sloppy at the 14FF yoke....

I'll take pic later....

Todd, it sounds like your yoke is shot. you shouldn't have any side to side play. Maybe call Jess at highangle. If I remeber right he talked about this on POR.

Paul,

Thanks... I will call around to get the best price on a yoke....

Is there is a crush gasket on the 14FF? Nevermind... I'll visit Billavista... AGAIN!! :D

yes the 14 bolt has a crush sleeve.

Just found that out... but Billavista has a GREAT MILSPEC PDF file that tells you how to change the yoke and seal WITHOUT destroying the crush sleeve.

FYI... THE PRICE ON THESE YOKES IS FREAKIN OUTRAGEOUS!!! $112- $125
