View Full Version : 65 Wag Problems
I'm looking at a 65 Wag that has a couple of problems I would like to know how doable they are before I buy it.
Rear Electric Window: Dash switch and door switch are out (owner says) and the tracks need to be replaced (won't slide up easily).
Engine Gaskets: Tornado 230 has some slow leaks.
Window Rubber & Felt: Leaks thru windows. Are there kits available anywhere?
Wipers: Arms gone, switch only works when held down.
Value? Give me your opinion on this vehicle. It runs great but has the above problems, plus needs a new interior, wheels and tires. Stock with a cheap new paint job. Body is rust free (Arizona) but the floorboards have been repaired by one of the previous owners. What would you pay for it?

My top dollar would be $500.00. You're probably getting only the tip of the iceberg in potential problems.

I would pay $300 to $500 depending on just how good the body really was. I paid $300 for the 65 I put the V8 in and that was prolly a little to much although the int had been repainted and it mostly was all there and working. The upolstery was gone and the floors had been poorly repaired. The rocker panels looked ok but once I really got into them, I ended up replacing both inner and outer panels. The original weather seals were never the best so I replaced them with the style like on the newer Wags. J.C. Whitney has a large assortment of seals and window lacing that can be adapted, but they all cost money and the little stuff adds up.
I have a $50 dollar 65 Waggie with the Tornado and factory power steering that is complete and runs and works great but the body is toast and is going to become parts truck when I get done playing with it.
Anyhow drive a hard bargin and get it cheap if you plan on fixing it up.
ps did you get my e-mail?

I sent you an email with my number. Give me a call.
I would have to agree with them $500 seems like a good price. But then I have never seen it. There is a guy that lives and works very close to me that bought a 65 wag that I was going to buy. He has done a lot to it so far. It is starting to look real nice. He has registered on this board but that is as far as he has got.
