Last time I was in Dothan I stopped by and saw the guys at Blue Tourch. Nice guys and saw your shocks on the wall...or were those mine for the future :D
Is that one of their battery boxes?

Yup, everything you see there comes from bluetorch. Dan is my buddy so I just send everything through him which works out fine cuz his stuff is plain bad. The ram I'm using is a standard 2x8 agriculture ram. The orbital in the picture is valved for that setup. I'm throwing all kinds of time and money into this thing but honestly I can't see the point of those double ended rams unless you want to drive on the street or just look cool.

actually i'm thinking abotu going full hydro, but the benefit to the double ended ram is left to right are the same hydrolic power. the regular 2x8 that you have will turn harder on the compresson side than when it would be lifting. so basically it will turn harder to either the left or the right depending on how you put your ram. most setups i've seen in a full hydro setup with a regular onesided ram turns harder to one side. kinda guetto, cause its a pretty good size difference to one side.

Actually, you've got that wrong. It's not a power difference but a displacement difference which means you will have more turns lock to lock to one side than the other. For instance, you might have 3 turns to full lock right but only two to full lock left. There may be a slight difference in actual hydraulic power on one side or the other but it's not noticable and I know this because I've driven the exact setup I'm talking about. All that return to center, load reactive, road feel crap is a bunch of poser Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley. You introduce a lot more parts to fail with the double ended setup plus they are just not worth the extra money when you can have a setup that works great like mine for relatively cheap, you just can't hit the freeway at 60mph.

oh i was told it was a power difference, but yeah i see how it works, but the way i see it is, its harder to steer to one side, which kinda sucks. but also if the cylinder was designed to lift then its going ot have more power when its lifting than compressing. but its not a noticable power difference for our application. i'm not saying run a double ended ram, i'm just saying its somethign i've been thinking about, cause i'd rather have more steering wheel turn the same number of times to each side, and be able to steer left to right with equal pressure.

Problem I have with that is the fact that it is so much extra money and work for such a small gain. However, if you do decide to run a double ended ram you have a better setup to do it with since you have a kingpin 60 and can run full highsteer. Even then though mounting a DE ram is a huge PITA. Since I have a balljoint 60, I can't run full-hydro highsteer since the knuckles just wouldn't be able to handle it. I did however have one of my knuckles custom machined and had a beefy steering arm made for it so I'm planning on running a simple setup very much like this.

The tie rod is flipped and mounted on top of the knuckle arm for a tad extra clearance and since I am losing the drag link that opens up the high steer arm for me to mount the ram to. Simple and effective...

That stuff looks like crap. Kidding. I think me and rob together might be able to keep up with you spending wise. Well, maybe not!

I run a single-ended setup. It's the only full-hydro setup I have driven besides tractors and forklifts. I would like to drive a DE setup to feel the difference.
I think you and I have the same valve, and I also run a 2x8 ag ram.
The setup works great, but is scary to keep in one lane above 45mph or so. You learn to drive with it, and just let it do its thing. The less you try to constantly correct it, the easier it becomes to stay in your lane. smile.gif
