Are these good enough for "normal" off roading? I do not thrash my rig too hard.

The Detroit version called the "EZ-Locker" has a life-time warranty for use with tires up to 33" tall. The Detroit version, however, has a reputation for not holding up as well as the "Lock-Rite". Supposedly this was corrected with a stronger cross-pin. Either way, these lockers should be plenty strong for normal off-road use. I have an EZ-Locker to put in the D44 front of Timex, and am planning on a similar "lunch-box locker" for the rear AMC-20.

Griff, I've used the lockrights on both my M20 and now on the D60. Best bang for the buck and easy install. Those prices are good too, usually they are least $230.

Wonder why the D60 version is twice as much as most other versions?

I had a Lock-right int he fron D30 in my old YJ. I had 35" MTR's on it and I ran trails up and down the east coast with no problems or breakage. For a front axle with manual hubs they are great bang for the buck. You may have to shift into 2wd to do sharp corners off road (I had a posi lock in the YJ so I coud do it without) but they do work great. I went from open diffs to the LR in the front and a tight 8.8 track lock int he rear and I could not believe the difference in traction. I made it through traile at Paragon that stopped all the other open diff rigs.
FYI - These are not great in the rear axle if you drive on the street at all. They are noisy and will band, click, and pop going around corners. The no-slip version is much better in the rear.
I may pick one of these up for the front of the J20.
Thanks for the link.

Aussie Lockers are made by the original maker of Lock-Rite. He claims he made many improvements to the original design. They are usually cheaper too.

I just put a lockrite in the rear of my jeep about a week ago, and every once in a while, when taking turns and sometimes just starting out straight, there will be a loud bang then everything is normal. is this supposed to happen or did I somehow put it in wrong?

Thats normal for Lock Rights I have had them in the rear (Cry. 8.25) of an XJ, and my old Scrambler, in both ends. I loved them, hard! Great price thanks for the tip!

I would say they are good for normal off roading. B4 I went nuts, I ran them in my J with 35's and 36's. And did some pretty hard stuff. But am told if you off road mostly, and are running big tires, don't use them. Dennis
