I think that I have decided on ARBs front and rear. I have a 78 J10 with q-trac. Who runs them and what do you think?

I have ARB's on my Jeep YJ. Love them. If I was to do it again, I MIGHT go with a Detroit in the back, but when I installed them....the YD was a Daily Driver. Definately gave it stock handling on-road and great off-road abilitiy.

I have arbs in a CJ. Got the rearback in '87 and the front in '92 i think. I have been pleased to say the least. I had to replace the bearing seal o-rings after 75K miles, and the internal seal after 125K miles on the rear unit. Both relatively easy repairs.
The front unit needed a seal replacement after 11 years, probably due to rust buildup in the housing from a lot of miles without the hubs locked (not slinging oil).
I have twisted splines on the rear axle shafts and broken front axel shafts with no damage to the arb units.
I would recommend a different compressor rather than the arb unit. I ran mine off of a york on board air setup for a while and that was much better than the arb compressor.

I'm very pleased with the ARB's.
If you have an OBA setup I'll suggest you don't use the ARB compressor.

I have an ARB in the rear and am very happy with it. If you have the cash then selectable lockers are the way to go. I would do it again.
For the front I went with the Aussie locker. Basically I was (am) cash poor and couldn't justify the ARB cost. Since I have a Part Time case and locking hubs the aussie up front doens't affect my on road abilities. Also, I only run 31" tires so I felt comfortable going with the lunch box locker in the standard carrier. If my aussie/carrier ever break, I will replace it with an ARB.

Selectables are the best option in lockers if you can afford it. I would prefer the E-locker over an ARB though, have heard great things about them and know several people who have had both arb and the elocker and liked the Elocker the best. Of the selectables, the OX locker seems to be the least desirable to to shifter issues.

I have an ARB in the front and it works great. I have a Detroit in the back and would go that route if you rig is not a daily driver or you drive in a lot of snow. An automatic locker might be a little cheaper and no maintenance.
I installed the stainless 5’ air line for the ARB from Russell Performance. That will eliminate the most common failure of an air locker, the cheap plastic air line cracking. Here’s a link with the part #’s. Btw you don’t need the adapter kit because the stainless air line comes with it. You do need to buy a -3 inverted flare coupling for the fitting coming out of the diff. You can buy them anywhere and they cost about a buck (brass).

I've Detroits in the back and ARB's in the back (of my YJ's). I'd go with having a locker you can turn on and off if you can stretch to it. I like it so much more.

I like my selectable locker... Torque to the LockRight. ;)
