...has the creation of the offroad forum led to more full size jeepers than ever leaning to more of a hardcore side with their rigs. When I first signed up here several years ago if you had 35s on your rig you were a badass. Now we got guys that come here considering a 4in lift and by the end of the thread it's Dana 60s and 38s smile.gif

No way to tell for sure whether the off road forum contributed to the increase of hardcore mods or did the increase in hardcore mods create the forum.

Maybe it’s just fsj evolution. From daily driver to trail rig barely street legal, it’s all part of the continuing evolution of our rigs.

No kidding. I've taken Bushwood from a stock, near flawless GW to: 4" of lift, 33MTs, Locker, Winch, cut fenders, custom bumpers/rack... and you guys make me look like I'm barely "Mall Rated"!

I got my cherokee and joined the board just before the offroad forum came up. I think having a more concentrated presence of those select FSJ'ers that would rather cut than lift has contributed to my demise!! I started out relatively stock with 33"my and 4"lift, now I'm welded F+R, 8 lug hummer rims, 14FF rear, cut rear fneders, engle custom grind cam, electric fans, TFI, dual rear mounted batts, dual air tanks, OBA, fuel cell, soon to be chop top / half cab conversion with custom M715 half doors chopped, full cage (exo front), 2x6 sliders and bumpers, rear mounted radiator and the list goes on and on...

It IS an addiction, no two ways about it!

And those 53's are going on my M715. But I am going to cut rather then lift, well, as much as possible anyways.

Andrew you and Whitefoot were an inspiration. Todd did some very exciting stuff with Riverbeast and many others have done good stuff.

It might be the fact that when you buy a $500.00 rig you have very little to loose by going a little radical.

Now lets think...74 Cherokee, Rockwells, NP 205, Klune-V, Chop top, cage...etc. :D No this is not radical  :D tongue.gif :

When I first started reading here I saw RB's rig and thought WOW!!!! that is awsume. Then I started reading an seeing other peoples build ups and that got me to thinking even more. Now I have started on build of my own putting J20 body on my cher. frame with J20 axles a short flat bed and maybe propane conversion. Who knows what ideas I'll come up with next LOL

i ended up with a FSJ sorta by accident, and it worked out well for me. ive been wheelin my rig way before the off road forum popped up,so i cant say the forum as influenced me,but i definately am happy that is here, and if its contributed to others making the decisoin to build their rigs more radically, thats cool with me smile.gif

scotty i hear that. its deffenetly not what influenced me at all. i've been building my jeep for 3 or 4 years and the offroad forum hasn't influnced me unless i ask everyones opinnion on something like a cage or bobbing that back end.

I think the added forum gave a venue for what's been happening and probably some inspiration. I started out aiming to cover some 36" tires with a strong enough drive train to "never" break... when I got to figuring what all it would take to do that for a Kaiser rig one thing led to another and, well, then I ran into some 40" tires I and thought "what the heck, geared right and doubled up on the transfer case with a 401 I ought to be able to mud up with the M715s".
Someday, maybe after some articles come out in our favorite magazine... we'll have a Dually section. smile.gif

But seriously, I think it helped motivate and inspire some. Really what motivates me is when I can't climb something cause of the carb, fuel injection time. Things like that. But I will say that the off-road section makes me visit this site much more often. I used to go straight to pirate4x4, but since starting this forum, I always start here for answers and to give updates, pics and such. Dennis

Not to start a war here, but pirate has a ton more hardcore info than here. But you can find more FSJ specific stuff here. I love this site, and am a 5-6 time a day user, but a tech article like the Dana 60 Bible, on pirate, is without a dought the best 60 info guide out there. There is nothing wrong with either site. My $.02... I like coming here because it's FSJ's.. but hands down Pirate has more tech, more pics, more wheeling... mostly cause it just has more members.

IMO, the reason yr seeing more and more hard core rigs , is due to the success of this message board, i know in my case my rig wouldnt be at the level or stage it is if it wasnt the GREAT help and advice i have gotten from the board .

I dont even go to Pirate or ther boards other then my Local one ( island 4x4 (http://www.island4x4.com) )..the rest all seem to discuss all OTHER Jeeps ,and very little help with FSJ's

Dennisdon't get me wrong, I love pirate's tech articles and that stuff, but the message board is full of pad posters and jerks for the most part. I can count the people who give good, thought out advice on there on my hands....

Agreed, there are some jerks, and they do get rude, but alot of people get on there and ask questions that could easily be found by searching. And I don't like some of the vulgarity people spew out, and include in thier signatures. But like I said, when you are in need of answer to a hardcore mod, thier arcives have it. I not saying thier better, just that there is some great info there. I like this site better cause I can trust people, know alot of them, never have to worry about people flaming for a stupid question and such. And like I said, this is FSJ specific. Peace and Love:) Dennis
