Was driving around downtown Louisville, waiting on my driveshaft to get finished, and saw this nice 88 grand wag sitting on the street. It had some action #'s on it, so I stopped and asked the dealership close by. He said one of his guys bid on it, but he usually doesnt bid on anything that old, so he just wanted to getrid of it. He had $1000 on it, but said I could have it for what his guy bid on it, which was $650. I said if he would cover the tranfer stuff, and I drive it around for a few hours, it's a deal.
I haven't had a chance to get back there, and he is closed on weekends, but just looking at it and sitting it it, looking under it, it looks sweet. No rust, no visible leaks. Leather interior is in good shape, but headliner is falling. Said it runs great, air works, and has all the options. I hope it's got the 331's, but won't know till monday.
I plan on using one of the two wheel tow dolly's as I found one here locally for a cheap price. Just gonna swap the small tires on my J, and pull it around.
Im not too worried about the weight, as I have virtually gutted my J down to just a cab and engine. And most the weight rides on the dolly axle. I pulled the J originally through the mountains of KY, with a dolly and my dads 6cyl ranger with no problems, so I feel the wag will do fine. Just take it easy, and enjoy the ride.
Really excited, and can't believe my wife is going for it? Must be on her good side for now. Im trying to avoid her this weekend, as too not screw things up! Monday, hurry up!!!!!!!! Dennis :D
