Not for me but definitely pretty cool. Personally I'm going with either the 3.8 or 4.3.

Andrew,
Did I read that you are going with an Atlas AND a Klune-V? That's going to be insane. You'll be able to redline it without hardly moving! Just curious since I don't have the money and didn't want to hijack your other thread, but what're you going to do with the body and frame? Please slap some fake woodgrain on the on buggy. That'd be hilarious.

Yea Will, the drivetain is gonna be as follows.
360/NP435/Klune V 2.73/Atlas III 3.8 or 4.3. I know the lowest of the lows will be practically unusable but I love the idea of 16 forward gears. And those crawler gears will be sweet for the realllllly technical crap...something for every situation. As far as the body and frame, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Probably use bits and pieces for the buggy. You never know.

-AndrewWith all that, you could run very street friendly gears and still have a monster crawl ratio. I may be doing that myself. The only difference would be the t-case. I'll be using a Dana 300 with a 4:1 low range.

Yea thats a good thing cuz with coilovers and a 4-link front and rear I'll definitely be pounding the pavement. LOL ROFL!!! I'm just messin with ya man. Actually I am just gonna leave the 4.56 gears that are in my Dana 60s and go with it.

switching to a grind box huh? just for 16 gears? simplicity? reliability? have you had problems with your auto setup?

most buggies I see are running autos cause they're into rock racin' more than rock crawlin'

After wheelin for six years with a slushbox I've come to the realization that ATF, shift kits, torque converters, and tranny coolers are http://www.fullsizejeeps.com/jeeps/files/Misc-Pictures/rainbow.gif I want a bulletproof tranny that I never have to worry about, I can pick the gear, the internals are as simple as can be, it won't overheat, I don't have to worry about toasting ATF fluid, etc. Yea it'll probably be harder to wheel offroad but hey, manuals are just plain fun and with the crawl I'm gonna have just slip the clutch and go. My buddy that competes had a grindbox in his buggy and he swapped to an auto after the first comp. Well next time out he was crawling and laid it over on it's side (not bad could drive out) but the buggy wouldn't go cuz the tranny wouldn't hook up at that angle. He didn't hear the end of it from me the rest of the day.

Andrew, with the 3.8:1 Atlas you'd have a crawl ratio of 316:1. That's insane! I can't wait to see this thing work. Should be quite a crawler. I agree with you with a 4spd not having to worry about durability sure is nice. I'm going auto for a while. Can always change later. Love having a 5spd in my XJ though. It's so much more fun to drive.

Hell yea man I'm so pumped it's making me sick. I decided on 16in coilovers and I was doin some calculations the other night...how does 40in of wheel travel sound?

We're still working out the details on Tellico this weekend. I'll keep you posted, or just check the RRR msg board.

3min from gate to gate ya don't have much time to waste- kinda forces ya into racing.
