View Full Version : Dodge Front D60: Will the 32.5" spring-pad distance allow a bolt-on?

I've replied to a guy advertising an '87 Dodge D-600 D60 front axle; complete, kingpins, close enough for me to pick up, decent price, right ratio to match my rear 14-bolt, etc...

Only reservation I have is the 32.5" spring-pad distance. It's a 1/2" wider overall than the FSJ/Chevy 32" distance, but at only a 1/4" per side, I'm gathering it would be possible to hog out the center-pin hole that much and still make it a bolt-on.

Anyone running a Dodge axle on their truck in SOA form, and what did you have to do to get it to bolt up?

The Chevy guys who use the Dodge Dana 60 for conversions report there is usually enough slop in the springs to allow it to bolt up with no mods. I bet this would be the case for you but if not hogging out the pin holes is easy.

shouldnt be that much a deal, Bob.... the bushings will wear a bit quicker though... from offset stress...
