oh and the one thats out of the car the shift linkage rods are about a foot long or so
Scary pic's, reminds me of a Tobe Hopper movie
I'm pretty sure you are showing a D20 with the ball & Trunion joint to the rear shaft.
If so, the D20 is worth something, provided the adapter is intact (most are cracked and useless).
All auto of that vintage would be TH400's

tailshaft adapter? the one thats out looks perfect, is the d20 any good? im thinking about swapping the tailshaft and d20 into my 77w/qt so i have part time
what are they worth to sell outright? and what makes the adapter so special?

Well, you can swap different yokes over to it, no need to change the tail shaft. You will need to change the tranny output shaft to mate up.

D20, not bad for your nomal 4x4 running.
A lot depends on your intentions.
***
Hard Core Wheeler?
Sure, you can spend about 1K upgrading that D20.
(not sure of the outcome, POR has some stuff if you care to sift thru that). Probably not worth the going into it.
***
Weekend wheeler?
Well, at 33"s and under, with a decent respect for where and when the pedal goes down, you should be fine.
***
Daily Driver/Weekend Wheeler+Sometimes?
I'd just keep the Qtrack, not a bad case for most situations.
Shoot, they ran them hard and hot years ago.
A lot of this depends on your intentions and being honest with yourself.
I'm not a big dick truck kinda guy.
I like big trucks.
I like rock crawlers.
I like mud buggys.
But that's not me.
Cool as it is, I'll be dead before I have the ambition level,of RockCandy, RockJeep44 and others.
Sorry, that just got way personal and lost.

hey, thats kinda my boat to, im gonna build a samurai for the "hardcore" stuff (mainly cause i can put d44's under it and my xtra jeep leaf springs and have a pretty good hardcore rig. my chero has always been a 4x when i want to drive somewhere and or use it to haul my motorcycle or whatever i need...im just thinking theres some problems with my qt that are gonna require putting some money into it and i figured if thats the case i might as well go partime on it...
with the d20 xcase adapter can i mate something other than a d20 to it?

It's a one shot deal.
My choice would be, sell the adapter and D20 and fix what you got.
(I have seen adapters go over $160 (years ago they went for $300 sometimes) on ebay, not been many lately, but that might be jeepsrforevers fault with his higstrength replacement).

why so expensive for a d20 if there not that bullet proof?
yup there d20's i looked at a pic on ebay of one and thats what both look like

It's not the D20 that's expensive, it's the adapter that mates it to the TH400. In stock form they are prone to breakage from abuse, or overtightening the bolts, bad/maladjusted mounts, just a mediocre design to start with.
The folks at http://www.bulltear.com/ make a replacement at $289, comes with bearings and seals
also, http://www.advanceadapters.com have one they list at $614.70 (I think that includes bearings, shaft, seals and whatnot).
the we get to http://www.novak-adapt.com/ coming in at $519, includes a bunch of stuff also.
So, you can see that makes a stock replacement adapter, in good condition, worth something.

Yah, good, ill get both of them then...whatdya think sell with the d20 mated to it? or seperate them?
sell both them and that will fund my pt kit for the qt
Well as I see it you could offer them 4 ways and let the buyer(s) pick.
1. TH400 Dana20 output shaft, adapter and D20.
2. Output shaft and Adapter
3. Adapter and D20
4. Adapter
BTW:
I just reread this post from the begining.
Is the nailhead TH400 to BOP adapter ring available?
I just wound up with another running Buick350. I have the nailhead TH400, adapter and D20 and need that ring to complete the set.

im pretty sure he said he had the adapter ring....and the one thats installed in the rig (buick 350,th400,d20) however im in the process of moving so getting the tranny and xcase out of that one will be for a weekend in the next month or so...soon as i get it off it would be available if your not in a big hurry....pm me with an offer for it.
just remembered, the th400/d20 thats out has the adapter ring to mate to amc 360. the one thats still in the rig is a buick 350 engine, so it would have the ring

No hurry what so ever, it's just one of those would be nice things.
Good luck with the move.
