I made a custom spring plate to attach both my shocks and my swabar. What do you think. It has not been road tested yet. http://gfsj.org/forums/uploads/post-3-1081617649.jpg http://gfsj.org/forums/uploads/post-3-1081617693.jpg http://gfsj.org/forums/uploads/post-3-1081617754.jpg http://gfsj.org/forums/uploads/post-3-1081617810.jpg http://gfsj.org/forums/uploads/post-3-1081617998.jpg

what kind of steering are you running? It looks like the Stock setup to me. How is that working with the SOA?
BINGO!!!
I think that's gonna work great Steve.
Now I know what to do with all this 1/2" thick 5x5 angle iron smile.gif

Just my uneducated opinion, but couldn't you have cut that U-channel for the shock mount a bit longer, to give it more strength? I think fatigue might eventually end up breaking that part of the bracket.

Tad that is my own design and I want royalties! J/K
That was actually cut from a piece I beam. 1/2 thick down the side and 1/4 on top. I would have done it the other way cept it would not of been wide enough.
MocKKnighT It is the stock steering with a redneck Ram Hydra assist. The ram is not installed in the pic. Also I made a custom draglink to clear the springs. I have not posted pics of it for fear of being flamed(RB). Those of you who have benn around know what I am talking about. It is however working GREAT! No bumpsteer to speak of. Cheap too!
Kenall they are 2.5 in spacers. I like them. Haven't really put them thru the ringer yet. I will next weekend in Uwharrie. I did use the swaybar plate first for the shock mount but with the SOA I had a lot of body lean going down the road. I needed to be able to hook up the swaybar as well. Plus my shocks were too short in the stock location. They are still too short and are my limiting factor on droop. I will get new ones later and relocate the mount down.
Mikel the mounts the mounts are like that because of clearance issues. I already had to rotate the brake line out of the way and run the bumpstops out a little bit. They have just enough clearance right now. I will watch them and add bracing as needed.
BTW I am working on a patent. J/k I am really proud of what I came up with. I have never seen anything like this before. I will be adding extended bumpstops tomorrow. I will post more pics then. Can't wait to try them out!
Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Not kidding, if it works we'll work something out.
Of course, I only have about 20' of that 1/2" angle and have no plans to buy any more.
That is some pricey stuff.
It's a great piece of work you did there Steve, you should be very proud.

Thanks Tad that means a lot coming from you! I actually got the steel out of a scrap bin at a local fab shop. Who knew? If you want to do something with it I can send measurements and stuff. I will see if it holds up next weekend.
Again thank you!

Steve, can I get the measuremants, or comission you to make a set for me? I hope to start the SOA soon.
Jake
Sure Steve send me the measurments of what you did, I'll put a couple of my best students on it and see what they can come up with as far as being fast and efficient about it. I'll be facing the same SOA project as soon as the school shuts down for the summer.

Thats just SWEET!!! Looking good! I doubt that shock mount is going to break off, weaker setups on stock.

yeah really that shock mount will hold up just fine. i just welded a stud straigh to my axle tube on my rear axle so i could angle my shocks. its been there for awhile now hasn't broken under hard wheeling yet. and its probably a lot weaker than that.

That does look really good man, well done. Let us know how it works and more importantly get lots of wheelin pics. Also, it's good to see I'm not the only one that hangs **** from their shop ceiling with electrical wire ;)

Steve if you are feeling like sharing...I would love a set of measurements. That looks great...let us know how it holds up.
Thanks one way or the other.

Guys I will be happy to post measurements. I am not an exact kind of guy. I will do the best I can.
Test drove it today. NO MORE BODY LEAN! It was great! I could drivr like a regular vehicle.
I also extended my bumpstops 4". I will post pics later.
I don't want to give out any measurements until I get back from Uwharrie and see how it holds up. I don;t want you guys to build something bad.
RJ44 don't worry I plan on taking lots of pics next weekend!
