My brother in law SAYS?? he has a pair of Dana 60s from a 1ton suburban? Theyve been geared to 4.10 to put them in a 72 Wag I thought the shackles and springs were only 2in is this true? And if so is it a major mod to put bibber shackles and hangers in an FSJ need to know cause hes broke and askin $200 for the pair. Probably buy them anyway cause all my Chev friends would pay more than double that for em but can I get em on my rig in a weekend? Was my late buddys dads Sub know it was 1ton just dont agree with idea of dana front and rear!

Dana 60 front axle is one of THE most sought after axles in the offroad world. Around here, a front can go for as much as $1500. Under a $1000 is considered a good deal (to me).
That being said, I would suggest never putting a deadline on something like an axle swap. Even if people say it will happen in a weekend, it will take you two (I seem to hang out with murphy a lot). What sized tires are you going to run? If not going bigger than 35" I wouldn't really bother with it (ok, maybe I would, but I wouldn't stick with 35s either.). It will add more weight, and less ground clearance unless the bigger tires justify it.
Most FSJs came w/dana front and rear btw. The only exception that I can think of is the AMC 20 rearend.
That being said, I will give you $401 plus shipping right now smile.gif .
One more thing, I think it is really important that you make sure it really is a dana 60, open knuckle front end.

BTW, on the bolting the axle under thing, front shackles 2" rear 2.5"
Both are in the wrong spot.
Best way IMO would be to relocate the spring perches/shackles to underneath the frame, and then use chevy springs in front, and chevy/stock FSJ springs in the rear.
WHile this COULD be done in a weekend, it all depends on how good you are w/customization. You will need to look into whether or not you are lifting it, too.
I would save yourself the trouble and sell the axles to me! :D

im not 100% sure that they did either, rob. im thingking a burb is usually 3/4 ton rated at most.
the one excepttion i can think of is a burb a friend had, that was a 2wd 1 ton dually, but it doest really count either,as it was dealer converted.
however, its hard to say,as it would be easy to swap 1 ton running gear from a pickup into a burb,so its quite possible to run across one with those axles.
you will not find a d60 in the rear of any 1 ton truck. pre 73 the 1 ton rear should be an eaton, and post would have been a GM 14 bolt.
what the axles are determines how great of a deal $200 is. maybe try and get some pics,or somehow positively ID them. you would be amazed at the number of people think that an 8 lug 44 or 10 bolt is a dana 60,simply cause it has 8 lugs

i coulda swore the front axle would always be a d44 with 8lug outers. and the rear could be a d60 or 14bolt for all iknow. the front axles the only one i'd be really hoping was a d60 anyway.

front would be an 8 lug 44 till 77 in a chevy, till 79 in a GMC. after that youd find an 8 lug 10 bolt.
rear axles from 73 onward would be a 12 bolt until somewhere around 80,and a 10 bolt after that fir a 1/2 ton. 3/4 or 1 ton always got a 14 bolt after 73,until sometime in the 80s when youd find a d70 in the dually pickups, and in some applications the semifloater 14 bolt in 3/4 tons.
sometime late 80s,early 90s you were back to a FF 14 bolt for 1 ton SRW and duallys.
prior to 73 you had a d60 in a 3/4 ton truck, and an eaton fora 1 ton SRW and dually. not sure what the 1/2 ton rear axle would have been-maybe a 44?
at any rate, youre right the front 60 is the one youre hoping to find. rear 60s are a dime a dozen in 3/4 ton dodge and fords smile.gif
