Locker and axle ????

So first of all I have a 79 chero with a 360 how do I find out what gearing my dana 44 has (its stock) and correct me if Im wrong but my axle is a 30 spline ya? Second what are if any,the drawbacks of only having one locker, besides only having one locker. Will that negatively effect my truck? Will having a Q-trac and one locker be ok. I plan on apart time locker not a full-time. Oh ya I almost forgot if its ok to do just one wich axle should i put it in. And for those wondering why I'm only getting one, first of all Im really cheap and second of all I have a buddy whose practically gonna give me one.

there should be a tag on one of the diff bolts with the ratio on it and if not count the gears. i would put a locker in the rear for two reasons. 1. it is alot easier to push the rear than pull in the front. 2. it will be easier to steer both on and off road. As for q-t I have not got a clue, then for one locker being one locker lots of people do it

one more thing. i do not know what type of rig you have but, you could weld the rear spider gears together(making a homemade locker) then put the locker up front and have a true 4 wheel drive.

If there is no tag, jack up one wheel and turn it one turn and measure how many turns the driveshaft turns. Either multiply that by two or divide by 2 and which ever way makes sense is the gear ratio. I am pretty sure it's multiply by two.

On the Qtrac only a ARB or OX locker is the way to go. Electrac...electric lockers suck.

A selectable locker is the only thing you can use because of the BW1339 center diff. transfercase.

Up to you which axle you put it in...I would put mine in the rear.
