I am sure there is a thread on this in fragments.

Going with a Dana 60 Front and a 14 bolt rear..things to consider are
1 - front springs...stay with the factory heavy duty set up or something softer for more flex

2 - Front Shocks...Who, and what to use

3 - Cross over or high steering...What is best and where to get it

4 - New front driveshaft

5 - Is hydro-steering a wise move

6 - 14 bolt for the rear

7 - Locker type...considering a Detroit

8 - Spring perches need to be moved, new perches or other mods

9 - Rear shock mounts

10 - Rear springs...stock heavy duties or something softer for more flex

11 - Stock gas tank...will it be in the way

12 - Rear shocks..who and what model

13 - What eles have I forgotten

I figure this might bring it all together in one location. Thanks guys

Which truck is this for??? You have three in your sig.

Anyway, I'm doing the similar upgrade, so going down the line:

1. Start with the stock springs. The weight of the D60 may improve your flex anyway.

2. Don't know; I'll be asking myself in a couple months.

3. I'll be doin high-steer, which is crossover plus relocating the tie-rod. No machining on a D60, since the kingpin cap has four bolts used to mount the steering-arms.

4. New front will be mandatory; high-angle, if possible.

5. Hydro-assist would be wise-move. Full Hydro is not DOT legal.

6. Of course. :D

7. Detroit is least likely to break.

8. New perches, and reinforce the frame at the attachment-point.

9. Be creative... smile.gif

10. I will be using stock springs

11. If it had an offset diff, there will likely be some contact with the driveshaft. I will be adding one to where the spare-tire sat.

12. Again, up in the air.

13. What transfer-case is this all going to be powered by?

This is for the 87 Wag and using a 208 transfer case.

I was thinking the Detroit in the rear also as a cost matter. As for the front I don't know which way to go either a selectable locker or a limited slip.

With the 208 will I need to look at a different gas tank for this set up?
