Longer brakelines...

Well, I ripped loose my extended braided steel line yesterday on trail(see post in gd), and now I have to replace the lines... Wasn't there a thread earlier that told which gm brake hoses were really long and a direct fit to FSJ's???
I remember seeing it but at the time i had brakes... Thanx...

i replied to the GenDisc page but i used 79 chevy van lines. they're super long and all you have to do is run a 7/16" drill bit through it one time. this sounds bad but you're only taking a sliver of metal out to make sure the bolt fits good. i did it and my brakes work.

Take your old line into NAPA, they can measure it and and see what connections it has then get one that is longer based on that. They have a big book with pictures and specs. That's what I did.

Thanx for the info OC and TX... I used the chevy van lines but I didn't have to use the drill on them mine being a '79 using '79 chevy lines might be the differance... They are definitely long, 2" longer than the 6"lift lines I was running... Now, tomorrow I'll put them on the correct sides(Whoops), I realized after I fought with the steel line I had to replace, installed the new longer hoses, and got the system bled out...And to top it all off, as I'm bleeding the brakes the fuel pump starts puking gas out of the vent hole...Time to go electric I guess...

I wish that I still had the part number for the lines that I used. I searched and searched on Pirate's page and coloradok5 and I found some Napa part numbers. Then I went to napa, and it seems like I ended up with different lines anyway. Usually if you find a good employee they can meet your needs with their catalog of brake lines. If I remember correctly, mine are like 26" long... perhaps overkill, and perhaps they'll bulge in the future, but for now they seem to work great.
