Well we started the swap everything was going as well as could be expected. We only had to torch off three bolts holding cherokee body on. Then when we swung cab on we found out contrary to all assurances the body mounts do not mounts do not line up!! Well the back did but not the front.
Ok according to my buddy he went out today did some measuring and found that there may be a difference between (drum roll) The J10 and J20 cabs!! According to him the J10 mounts are the same as the cherokee!!! More on this as it developes!

Charlie, same thing happened to me when I put the J3000 body onto a '76 Chero frame.
All I did was take a grinder to the floorboards and torched new holes. I have yet to get the required bolts to bolt it down.

Sorry about immagstation trying to get you to register it is the first time I have used it. That is the only pic in the file as it was the only one I could get resized.
As for assurances just about every thread I read said that it would. LOL
We will just cut the front mount off and move to the right position.

Tad I was here all week end working on the truck. We have it down to just frame, and axles pulled transmission and transfer case to put in new clutch and dana 20 twin stick. We also pulled all the fuel system out as we are going to run on propane. We started mocking everything in when we found the problem with the front frame mount.

Craig and I'll be putting in the new clutch and starting on exhaust and headache/main bar tomarrow. Before we take the cab off I'll get some shots with tape showing distances.

what year chassis are yo using, and wat year j20 cab? a friend of mine put a 77 j20 cab onto a 79 wag frame, and it did in fact bolt right on. core support mounts, all the cab mounts lined up with the mounts on frame.
interesting that you have run into a difference.

I am unsure what year the cab is. Frame is 76 cherokee. What we found out the J10 and cherokee mounts are the same, the J20 mounts are exactly 3 inches closer. If I remember this correctly the cherokee mounts were 40 3/4 center center so the J20 and as you say we must conclude also the waggy are at 37 3/4. Sorry pascal I didn't get any before pics. Todays progress was moving mounts, installed clutch, intalled headers, removed transfer case in preperation to install twin stick D20 from scout.
We did run into another interesing thing today it seems that there are two set of mounting holes for the motor mounts if by chance you put them in the rear as PO did you can not line up tranny mount, motor mount must be in front holes!!!!
:D :D

I know a 71 J-4000 cab will bolt onto a 74 Wagoneer frame also.....

They moved the front set of body mounts by the firewall in 75 or so because I had to move the mounts on my 77 cherokee frame when I set a 69 J3000 cab on it but measured my 74 wag and they are the same as the 69 J3000.

As soon as I can figure out how to resize my pics I'll post to show progress so far.
