Okay, so in order to pass the safety on the J20 I need to get the reverse lights to work. So after following the wiring diagram out and tracing the wires from the backup lights to the underside of the dash to the backup switch, I hook up the handy lil electrical multimeter and no power is going to the switch. So back to the wiring diagram and what do you know, there is a "splice" shown in the diagram. The "splice" branches off to the cigarette lighter, backup lights, and seatbelt buzzer. All of which I don't remember ever working. Unfortanately after staring at the underside of the dashboard I have come to the unescapeable conclusion that I have to drop the column to find said "splice". It's either this or continue to remove skin from my knuckles and practice being a contortionist. So the questions I have are, please tell me that the only two bolts that appear to be holding the column to the underside of the dashboard are indeed the only two bolts holding the column to the underside of the dashboard. Also, is there anything I have to worry about by dropping the column?

Jumper 12Vdc to the fuse block location that 57A-RED #16AWG comes into to.

That should supply power to Splice-M.

If everything works, then there is an issue in the fuse block itself.

If everythig does not work, then you have an open inbetween the fuse block and Splice-M.

You can use a wire to jumper between a live contact on the fuse block and where 57A-Red comes in.

Just be careful, if there IS a short in the wiring, beware that you do not cause additional damage.
