I'm having a problem bleeding my rear brakes. My brake light came on and I found my rear brake line leaking. I replaced the line and now when I try to bleed my rear brakes only a little bit of fluid comes out and the light stays on. Can anyone hele me solve this problem? Thanks for any help.

You have a brake valve located just downstream from your master cylinder that is designed to shut off the flow of brake fluid to the front or rear if it detects a loss of pressure (ie bleeding the brakes or a brake line leaking). This is a safety devise to still allow you to have brakes-either front or rear-if the other goes bad. Depending on what type of valve you have you are supposed to block off a switch on it when you bleed the brakes. Since it appears that was not done it's blocking fluid from going to your rear brakes and it has tripped the switch for the light to come on. According to my TSM they are supposed to self correct but they do not always seem to. Fix any brake leak and then try bleeding the front to see if the valve will self correct. Good luck.

Try doing a search in the General FSJ Tech forum, you will get plenty of information there.

I had the same proble, in my 78 chero, it happened after i replaced the master brake cylinder and power booster.

Turns outh that there is a switch that sits on the column above the brake pedal that when the brake is depressed there is a lever that swings away form a button turning on the brake lights.

In my case I had to screw the button assembly in, to get the brake lever to depress the button at rest.

As for the brake line question, I don't know, haven't done that part yet.
