does anybody know if fuel tanks for j trucks are still available. would like to buy a new one.
my fathers 1982 j-20 (66,000 miles 4 speed - sits in the barn) decided it was time to have a leaky gas tank. looks like the leak is on top of the tank.

Alright...I'm going to make you a deal. You tell me what exactly your name is translated to or means and I'll give you a source...um'tay.

MTS Company does polyurehtane units. This was the only source that I could find beside buying a new steel factory replacement for 380.00 something at the dealer. I've spoken to them on to seperate ocassions. They even exchanged a unit that J.C. Whipme sold me. Wrong filler location, even though J.C. said it was for a '79.

Try this...http://www.mtscompany.com/

Hope that helps.

well this is going to sound stupid but I have forgotten what it all stands for. All I can remember is that since about 1947 our family has owned about 13 different jeeps.
1943 "ford" jeep
1956 willys jeep station wagon
1966 cj6
1964 j200 gladiator
1974 j10
1974 cj5
1977 cj7
1978 Cherokee
1982 j20
1985 j10
1986 j20
1992 small cherokee
1996 small cherokee

I will always own something with these four letters. Don't have much use for other brands.
Kind of gets in your blood!

BTW thanks for the info.
Steve :D

hey I found out that there are a few of these tanks around for the 82 and above J-trucks. A few dealers still have them. a whopping $625.00. It looks like were going to try having the tank relined.
