I welded a 14 bolt for a buddy. I gave it twelve E6013 rods. Hasnt broken yet. Just weld it like you would any other diff. I welded the spiders to the carrier too though.

No offence man, but um I don't think you did it right. I don't think you're supposed to weld a junk gear to a ring gear. But of course, I could be wrong! :D tongue.gif tongue.gif :D

what the heck does welding a rear end do for you ?

Brown Bear

it will lock all the gears together, making a true locked differential. It will insure that both of your tires are turning in the same direction at the same time, and at the same velocity. This can be very useful on loose traction situations, but on pavement, it can be a bit harrowing, especially while making a turn.

hmmm i see so why do people buy thoses way over priced lockers ? if this is so simple to do

Brown Bear

because it's extremely rough on your axles and gears, and it doesn't unlock itself when you go around corners, which all aftermarket lockers will do, to some degree. With it not unlocking around corners, your tires will most certainly chirp, and you run the risk of having the truck push you through a corner and into whatever's in your way at the time.
