727 shifting funny into 2nd

this just started to happen to me. my 727 takes a bit long to shift into 2nd gear. other operation seems to be fine. i think this only happens until she warms up a bit. this could just be my imagination though. i really only drive her on the weekends because my apartment is across the street from campus. this is my first venture into tranny problems. start me off on the most evident problems if you could. i will be changing the fluid and filter this weekend. thanks

check the fluid level. classic symptom of being a pint low.

also MAYBE the bands are out of adjustment, but don't quote me, please.

reverse seems to be going out. when i shift it into R i have to hit a little more gas to get it going.
