what t-cases have a 23 spline input? i know a d300 does but what else?

NP208 and the other chain driven units 80 and up.

Dodge also have 23 spline including the NP205.

any new process case used in a FSJ application, other than the 208 found behind the post 80 t18,wich has 31.(208,219,228/229.)

also some nep process/new venture gear cases found in xj/yj/tj/zj/wj: 207,231,242,247,etc. you have to be careful when robbing cases from little jeeps cause the light duty manuals(ax5,t4 and a couple others) used behind the 4 cyl,as well as the aw4 auto used a 21 spline tailshaft.

new process cases found in gm and ford vehicles will be 28,31 or 32 splines depending on the application.

dodge used a 23 spline tailshaft, but those cahin drive cases(231,241,242,208) will generally have a slip yoke rear shaft instead of a fixed yoke,as will gm and some small jeeps. ford usually used a fixed yoke.

last and not least, the dodge 203 and 205 will have a 23 spline input. the 205 will have a round pattern and should directly replace an aluminum NP case in a FSJ behind a 904 or 727 with no prollem smile.gif the 203,while having the 23 spline input, shares the semi-square/round pattern as the gm 203 so an adapter and possible tailshaft swap(differnet lengths) will be required to mate a dodge 203 to an amc 727.

post 80 jeep NP cases are driver side drop, for FSJs and little jeeps.

ford is driver side drop.

gm is pass side drop until round 91 when the switch to IFS was made

dodge could be pass or driver drop, depending on the year, and wether you are dealing with a full size or downsize truck. little trucks are driver side, big trucks are passenger side up until the recent years. not sure if brand new dodge full sizes are still pass side drop or not.

further questions? smile.gif

My 208 has 32 spline. It came out of a 83 j20. Dennis

the reason i'm asking is because i was looking at an AA catalog today and they said they have a kit that converts the the t18a to a 23 spline output like to the d300 or a flush 23 spline (whatever that means) to a NP case. i think they were talking about 231,207 or 241 which are none that i want. i really want to keep my tranny but i think i'm gonna have to accept defeat and go buy a new one. :( i know this subject has been hit before but i need to know. also, does the spline count on the input shaft of a 435 or 465 match the t18a. i'm gonna go look for the answer but one of you might know of hand real quick. thanks

If you are interested I know that all 4.0L Wranglers have a 23 spline input. You could get a 241OR from a Rubicon and get a little heavier duty t-case than the 231, plus you get the 4-to-1!

I know that the little Jeeps! can still hold a fair amount of power, 200-250hp stock!

You might as well get an atlas if you're going that route. I don't know of many Rubicon t-cases sitting around which would mean you would have to buy it new from AA. Plus the atlas is gear driven which is nice.

True that they are expensive, and can you say twin stick! I would go with the Atlas, but I was just saying that you could get 23 spline from that t-case :D
