I have just rebuilt the ball and trunion joint on my '71 Wagoneer in an attempt to cure drive line vibration, to no avail. The kit did not include a new joint housing. My vibration is maybe worse than it was before. I notice that there still is some play in the joint. Either the housing is worn and or the shaft ball stud is worn.

I can't seem to find a sourse for new housing. Any suggestions for sourse or assistance will be appreciated.

you used to be able to get the bell from 4WDH and Quadratec, but not anymore. there's a conspiracy to make you but the $250 aftermarket shafts. you CAN buy just the universal for $60 from Summit and make it fit.

Quail, Bite the bullet and convert over to a slip yoke and spline. If you go into your local driveshaft/spicer type business you will be able to get a yoke for the back of your tcase and the slipyoke and spline assy is longer than the ball and trunnion so all they have to do is cut off the old joint and install the new stuff to your needed length. The driveshaft should cost about $150 and the new yoke 25-35.

Get rid of it, with it you will never have any type of lift or clearance.

Geeze, sorry, maybe it's my email that's all messed up, anyway thank you.
PS. I've heard them called Detroit Joints too, as I remember it I had a Fury with one, could have been the Cornet, been a long time.
