Bart and I were digging through the parts trucks the other day and came up with a Hydro boost set up unsure where it came from or what it came off of. According to bart the thing he don't like about them is when you step on the brake and turn the wheel at the same time your power steering pump sounds like a chiwawa dogs if this is so what is the advantage to doing this to your self

Probably need a differnet pump. A number of suburbans have used hydroboost and power steering without any problems. Primary advantage is stronger braking pressure.

My Buick GN has them as well as my 04 F-350 Ford.
Never had a problem with them. The new cadi suv's have them as well. May of had a bad pump or somthing.

Bad pump or air in the system.

Not that that would ever happen to anyone I know.

Ok which pump do you use on FSJ

if engine stalls then you lose power brakes. engine no run= no vaccume for vaccume booster, or noe ps pump to power hydro boost.

You have an accumalator on the Hydro Boost brakes, if your engine stalls you would be able to stop the rig on the spot. There are also Hydro Boost setups with electric backup.

thanks for the reminder Ralph... and yes... I did have the HB with the accumulator... or I think I would have fallen off that cliff after bouncing off a few of the FSJ's behind me... ;)

Todd, wazit you that said Hydroboost brakes and high flow power steering pumps don't mix?
Izzatso?
