Quite a few Scout guys use rancho 44044 lift springs when doing SOA on Scouts. They are a waggy lift spring. They report great ride and flex. they also talk about stock 5 and seven leaf waggy springs with the 7 leaf giving a better ride and flex. I don't see very many J trucks in the boneyard, but I just found 2 of them. A early 70's 1/2 ton with drum front, and 60 SF rear, and a later mod J20 with 2 very thin leafs on the front.

I read a thread that the J20 springs give a poor ride, do they flex poorly also? In a SOA?

I couldn't find any threads here talking about the rancho springs, skyjackers seem to be prefeered. Do you guys dislike the Ranchos?

Do the 7 leaf five better ride and flex than the 5 leaf?

I am looking to go SOA, but minimise my overall lift. Looking into Jeep stuff rather than Scout because the longer Jeep leafs allow us to move the front axle forward for less wheelwell trimming.

Now tell those CJ guys to leave our 44's alone smile.gif

J20 rear springs are stiffer because they're designed to carry more payload. I'm pretty sure the rear springs of the J20 and J10 are longer than Wagoneer springs if those are what work in your Scout. I'd stick with Wagoneer or Cherokee springs, they're more flexible off-road and will give you a better ride. As far as 5 leaf vs 7 leaf, I'd assume from my own bias that the 5 leafs would be better, but that's not from experience. Generally speaking less leaves is better, at least in my experience.

Oh, as for your 44's, NO WAY MAN! LOL. If I find a cheap pair I'm certainly ripping them off for my little rig! MUA HA HA!

As for the Rancho RS44044's...I run them SOA on the front of my Wag and they flex and ride great. Although, I've been told that Rancho discontinued the spring, and all the places I have checked, no one has any left, so good luck finding them.
