Hi,
I have a 1986 Jeep Wagoneer that has, I've been told a two barrel carburator with a 360 engine. I get about 11 mpg in the city. I had my mechanic change the carburator jets from 55 to 52, to hopefully increase the mileage. When I start it in the morning, it dies usually three times before I am able to get it to continue running. After it has warmed up, it isn't as bad, but still hesitates when I apply the gas. If I try to just maintain the speed limit, it almost feels like it is "cutting" out. Some aspects make me think that it is starving for fuel. Others, like when first started, make me think that it needs the choke adjusted. I have been told that I might be able to get 16mpg best case and 11-12 mpg in the city. I get about 11 mpg pretty consistantly now, but I think it can do better. Any ideas out there?
