Ok guys, so I need a heavy duty transfer case for my Jeep. I've decided that I would like to use a an NP203 or NP205 or better yet a doubler. However, I've found a reasonably priced TF727/NP203 combo from a Dodge, and know where I can get an NP205 for a TF727 from a Dodge. Does anyone know if I can bolt on the NP205 in place of the NP203 while I'm saving up for the doubler? Did they use the same adapter or different adapter and output? I know that I'll then have to get an AMC TF727 to match my AMC 360, but I'm sure I can find one.

Thanks,
Will

I know the GM version use different adaptors and trans output shafts between the 203 and 205. I have the GM NP205 and TH400 for my rig.

you could also get a divorced 205

There is one version of the Dodge NP203 with output shaft and adapter. There are at least 3 versions of the Dodge NP205 and probably more.

For the Dodge NP205 to bolt onto the 727 with the NP203, it would have to be a pre 79 model.

But, you can bolt any married NP205 to the Dodge NP203 with the doubler. 99.9% you will not find a 32 spline input version of the NP205 so you will have to change the input anyway to make it work.

With this setup, you will have a bulletproof drivetrain capabable of doing anything you want and doubling the number of gears you have which will be 12. Not bad at all.

Did all 727's come with 23 spline outputs?

Now you have me thinking again. I put a 32 spline input into the ford 205 i got from you so I could bolt it up to the NV4500. With a 32 spline output on the 727, the 205 might bolt up to the exisiting 727 adapter since the ford 205 had the new process round bolt pattern. I wonder what the stick out length is on the 32 spline output compared to the 23 spline.
