Tranny Shot!!!!!!

The T-18 or 19 tranny on my '79 J-10 is about to give up the ghost. My neighbor has a 70's ford 2-ton truck. I was thinking about doing a conversion on the old J-10 and put the 361 and 5 speed. Which is going to cost $400 for the truck and $200 for the carb. And I will still need a transfercase. Any other ideas.

yea, that t-18 is a beast of a trans, and supposed to be pretty easy to rebuild. I'd go that route for sure. check out novak adapters for a complete kit with instructions and the whole nine yards for like $160...

There is an aution with a m-715. The truck looked in good condition from the road. I am thinking of going to the aution and taking a closer look. Maybe even try to bid.

If you buy another T-18, can I have the broken one? What's wrong with it?

If I get the M-715 we can talk about the tranny. Right now the trans. is pulling hard, but it sounds like a couple of teeth came out.
