heres the deal Bart has finally found time to get my cherokee in to put J20 axles in while we are at it we are going to go ahead and do a spring over. Bart has asked me if i wanted him to grind off the welds and rotate the front hubs to get better caster and make it easier on the drive shaft. Any body here ever done this other than in the mags. or did you just go get a high angle drive shaft? :( :( :(
Thanks for the responses guys got a phone call from Craig(Black Bart) found out window of shop use has just been cutdown so we are just going back in with spring under at this time thanks

Having the knuckles rotated is the preferred way to set up your front end where the pinion has 1-2 degrees deflection from the T-case and your caster is at factory settings.
IF the 'know-how' is there and its NEEDED (read-I need a better angle on my pinion than 3 degrees from factory) then go for it... otherwise... just do the SOA with up to 3 degrees on the new shims

If you are just looling for 3 degrees rotate the whole axle up 3 degrees and install 3 degree upper balljoint alignment shims.Dennis
Besides buying new shims,,, can u make them ? i was thinkin like using an old leaf and grinding it down ?
anyone ever done this?

That sure seems like a lot of work just to avoid buying a relatively inexpensive part, but I guess it could be done.
a pair of shims up here run like $40.00 + so whats a few minutes in the shop ,,,,

The shop is also used to repair ranch equipment so sometimes time is limited we thought that this time every thing was up and running but...

you dont want to make your own shims... they have to be a matched set... if you are off..
