I am building a hydro assist system.

1)I have a AGR steering box that I need to drill and tap if some one could tell me how to do so and where to do it.

2)I am looking at geting a ram from northern tools
it is a 2x10 with 1 1/8 shaft and 25oo psi it is only $56.00. will it work.

3) can I extend the PS pump buy putting a peace of radiator hose on top of the filler neck to hold more flued?

4) I am going to do a spring over so I will be fliping the tie rod to thee botom of the knukles and mounting the ram to a bracket on the diff. then back to the tie rod. will this work or will I have clearane problems.

5) what size lines should I use?

heres a good write up for drilling the box

Rob's hydro assist writeup (http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=000058)

you might need to limit the throw on the ram, as i believe 8" is what people run. (depending on where you mount the ram, i.e. on a highsteer arm you can adjust the throw needed by mounting it in different positions)

i was never a huge fan of the rad hose extra cap trick. i say put a cooler in there and you will kill 2 birds w/ one stone.
get cooling and extra cap.

not sure on hose size, im running -6 for my full hydro, i think thats what peeps are running for assist also.

stick with the 1.5 x 8 it will steer quicker the 2" needs 2 much fluid to do its job.Even an 8" will go to far but a 6 is to small.

Almost forgot I used 1/4" lines and a reservoir from a 92 YJ as well as a cooler.

well I would go 1.5 but I am puting this on a trail rig. I have an extra pump that I am going to drill out so It will be a high flo pump. and I am looking at geting a set of rockwells.

If you are going to install other axles then you shouldn’t buy a hydraulic ram first. Otherwise you won’t know what the travel for the steering is going to be or whether you are going to mount the ram to the tie rod or a high steer arm or whatnot. Get the axles first, then combine the design of the steering and ram assist together.

I have a 1.50 dia x 6” stroke ram with -06 fittings. A 6” ram fit in my desired location but an 8” would not so I made mockup high steer arms and worked out what dimensions were needed to suit the shorter stroke. Then I got the dims I needed from various high steer arms on the market and chose one that made it all work together.

i have rockwells and full hydro (well i will when i mount the stuff)

you can run a SE ram but if you want the bling (and power) DE is the way to go.

im running a power beyond orbital so i can run rear steer also.

no I dont think the rocks are going to work they are some oddball off a loader and are like 50 iches wide so I will probly pass plus shiping will be moree than the axles.
