Searched but didn't turn up much.
So, I have a 360/TH400/qtrack combo in my 73. I have a Chevy NP208 laying around from behind a 700R4. Since the TH400 is essentially a chevy tranny anyway, my question is what do I need to modify to bolt this np208 to the back of my 400?

Well I am in the middle of this now. Your TH400 would have to be completly taken apart to swap out the tailshaft needed for the 208. You would also need the TH400 to NP208 adaptor. Your Chevy NP208 will need its input changed as well.

Ok.
So, anyone know if and what Chevy applications the th400/208 combo was offered in?

Strike one up for the TH400 to Dana20 setup after all smile.gif
The TH400-Dana20 output shaft is the correct length and 32 spline like the Chevy TH400 (or SM465) to 208 input, the TH400 to 208 adapter bolts right up and provides the correct spacing.
Too bad I have a Dodge 208 to work with, but I'm in over my head now and not going back :(

Did not have time to play with clocking 2 rotations on Monday, might not be possible but I will double check today.
There is enough room with the body lift to just clock the single rotation, it actually is not that much different than the current position of the Dana20 setup.
The front output might be 1/2" higher than the 20 is.
I would like it to lower some more, for a better front drivline angle, but am probably looking at a high angle shaft anyway.
Front lift springs will probably have to be removed with the SOA, but that can get figured out later. I have about 5 weeks to get this figured out and get any more parts lined up, right now I just need the rebiuld kit and a new chain for the 208.
What was that thread about using a NP241 chain or something?
Supposed to be stronger?
I have serious CRS right now smile.gif
EDIT:
OK, no time today, too busy getting the truck loaded for the next trip to NM.
