Well not myself exactly but how hard and what would be required to change the front axle of my 78 Waggy to a manual locking hub. The transfer case slips under load and I figure since I am going to rebuild it I might go as far as a manual locking hub like that in my 71J
:D

As far as the axle goes, it's as simple as adding lock-outs for the hubs and removing the drive flanges. What t-case??

really easy to change,...

yr probably running the Qudra-trac...and is the chain skippin while accelarating?

puttin money into the hubs is just a band-aid on the problem , why not direct the $$$ into actually fixing the problem???

replaced the chain isnt that hard of an installion at all,,,

Yep it's a quadra trac...and yes the chain is slipping, not bad but annoying. Just wondering how I can do away with this problem altogether. Sure I can fix the chain but what if I can get rid of the chain, install a different transfer case and never have to worry about it.
Ok so it's a Jeep and everything needs fixing or adjusting...it's just their way. But why not just be rid of a problem that plagues them and go back to something as simple as a manual lock out?

Just something I thought about while checking my eyelids for cracks.

Puttin money into hubs WON'T band-aid the problem. Quadratrac is full time only. If you want part time, you need to get a kit for the quadratrac; then install manual hubs.

Otherwise, find a 727 and your choise of part time cases and swap it. Or...an adapter for the TH400.......

It's either a $120 chain every 60,000 miles, or rebuilding the tranny with a different output shaft and hunting down a D20, then changing the length of the driveshafts. And THEN you can add the unlocking hubs.

Guess which option is going to be cheaper? ;)

I'll keep an eye out for something I can swap in...maybe another Buick setup. In the mean time I want this mutha to pull my boat so a repair is going to be in the works.
