yup, 5 on 5.5.

big stuff is 8 on 6.5

beware that if you're changing the lug pattern on the IH d44, they use 5 bolt spindles (on the Scout II at least) instead of the usual 6 bolt is its a bit more interesting...

Also beware that older IH axles had reverse threads on one side of the truck. But I think this went away sometime in the mid 60's.

actually, disc brake 44 scout iis had wierd 8 bolt spindles. ford had the 5 bolts.

i think certain year d30 drum brake scout iis did use a 6 bolt spindle,so if you were wanting for some reason to use scout knuckles, you could mix and match some parts to use 6 lug hubs.

i personally would avoid scout 44s alltogether. the rear is ok,and compareable to a FSJ 44 in strength, but a scout ii front uses thin axle tubes, and has 0* caster from the factory, making them drive like crap. and the passenger side has very large chunk that must be cut/ground off to do a SOA.

i run GM axles in my scout, not scout axles ;)

my other scout friend does not run a scout front in his scout. he runs a narrow trac wag front with his scout outers to match the scout rear.

my $.02 on scout axles anyway smile.gif
