Winch question.

Okay well I have a 9000 Warn Winch that came off my Ranger when it got written off by ICBC. I am thinking about putting it on my Cherokee but my question is will i need to run duel batteries? it didn't have that much power when it was in my ranger but i was told it was probably because it wasn't grounded well or because i didn't have two batteries. are you guys out there running duel batteries or should i just stick with the one?

I run a single battery with a warn HS9500I and seems to work fine but only realy used it 1 time so far.

Maybe i just had it hooked up wrong on the Ranger. hopefully it works better on the Cherokee. I'm still not looking forward to building my own bumper.

It's not written in stone you need two batts but it's highly desirable. I run duals in both my rigs w/winches. Dual batts won't make the winch run any faster though...well unless you hook the batts up wrong and then it'll run very fast for a very short time. smile.gif

Wasn't there a Write Up on putting in Duel batteries?

I run a single battery with the stock alternator and I run dual electric fans AND a warn hs9500i winch. So, the moral of the story is, dual batteries are cool but not imperative.

Also consider the size of your wiring. 12 volts needs a big wire at heavy amp draw. Use a volt meter at the winch while winching and check the voltage there. There will always be some voltage drop but if its excessive, you may need to upgrade the wire gauge.
