I'm sure this has been asked before but has anyone ever bobbed their Wag before, and if so could I please see some pics and a description of how you did it. I've seen the Photoshop jobs but I would love to see some pics of the real thing. Also, whats the best way to cut the top off...sawzall, cutting torch? I'm trying to drop as much weight as possible off my behemouth so my plans are to remove the top, doors, tailgate, bob the rear, and go to a fuel cell. Are there any other ways to significantly reduce the weight of my Jeep that I haven't thought of? Thanks for any input.

I did a quick bob using photoshop, it looks very weird to me. Maybe I went overboard with the bob..

A friend recently bobbed his CJ-8 by 13 inches. He measured a bunch of times, and then carefully cut using a metal cut-off wheel and then rewelded. A little bit of bondo covers up any of the scars. Definitely not a job for the faint of heart, especially on a Wagoneer.
If you're planning on chopping the top, then take a look at the Cherokee over at David Allen Racing (http://www.davidallenracing.com/cherokee.htm).

Do a search under bobbing in the General Discussion area, and you ought to come up with an old topic on the subject with some more good pictures. There's a Cherokee on the WildFSJ page with this done. It has a full roll cage.

rockjeep, check out fullsizejeep.com,this is the best one i have found so far, havent had much luck as far as a realy good step by step deal yet, but this definatly ansewers some of the questions as far as bobing a wag,he's also got one hell of a cage.i think for the most part when i start my bodywork on my cherokke it will be mostly figuring it out as i go,if you find any better links or info please let me know,i'm hoping to be starting mine real soon.

Hi Rock Jeep....I thought I saw a PIC of a bob-job in "files" on CFSJA. To loose LBS what 'bout getting extra doors and t-gate, gutting them and putting on the skins with plex windows? Never put doors on a scale but I've had to carry them and set'em...
Bob Barry.....That white FS in your pics..I'm wondering if they fixed the back doors to still work? The roll bar may have made the body strong enough. Thats a slick rig..Thanks for bring up the photos.......ds

I think I'm going to remove the front doors, and as for the rear your idea is not bad at all. I may just try that. Thanks for all the good links and pics. If anyone has anymore, I'm open to everything. Thanks

thats another one thats on my list of mods to do. i allready have no roof, and it would be an easy process for me,cept that ill have to remake the fairlead for my winch(it ties into the bumper and cage) and ill have to move my little gas tank forward some. plus there is ALOT of weld hlding on my rear bumper that ill have t grind off smile.gif im planning on using a sawzall to cut the body, prolly a cutoff wheel in an electric grinder to cut the frame.when i built my cage i purposely didnt bring the rear bars out past the rear shackle hangers, for this reason. i knew id be doing it eventually.im constantly draggin my rear.
