Timing Chain Width??

Hey there,

I'm finally getting around to replacing the timing set on my 1987 GW. Called Northern Auto Parts, and do no know the chain width. The choices are 3/4" or 7/8" width. Does anyone know what the stock chain width is for a 1987 Grand Wagoneer with a 360?

Your help would be gladly appreciated.

Mine is 3/4"

Somebody has their information wrong. The V8 timing gears were 5/8" wide until 1979, and then 1/2" through 1991. I don't know why AMC went to the narrower timing set, but I've put a 5/8" set in two engines without any problems.

I was not aware of any differences in the width, but did not want to tear everything apart to find out that I had the incorrect parts on hand.
