I've got this Ford NP205 laying around my basement and was kinda piddlin with it and kinda got to thinkin. I bet a man(or woman) could make a lot of money on figuring out a way to put one of these things in a full size Jeep, with drivers side drop mind you. It seems to me that if there was just an input shaft that could be swapped into the case with 23 splines instead of the ford 31, then the case would work. It looks to me like the typical NP bolt pattern. Bombproof and twin-stickable. Just thinkin out loud. Am I way off base on this one?

Did dodge ever use a 205 with a 23 spline input? I swapped a gm 32 spline into the 205 that I am going to use with a NV4500 swap one of these days. As I understand it the 205 input shafts are pretty interchangeable as long as you find the female inputs. The chevy male spline inputs used a smaller front bearing. Interestingly I did find a dodge 29 spline male input that used the large bearing, but you had to use a drive sleave with it. The only other problem I think with using the 205 is that the shift levers on the top interfer with the tranny to transfer case adapter so you have to cut a slot for them.

swap a dodge 23 spline input gear, and that should do the trick. i believe both the 23 and 31 spline female inputs wil use the large bearing.

that or swap in a ford 435 ;) thats just me,tho-i prefer a grindbox to a slushbox

yea...I collected a TH350, a Chevy NP203, and a Ford NP205 in order to do the doubler. I too ran out of money. Such is life I guess.

ive got a dodge 435/203 and a chevy 205. im planing on fabbing my own doubler parts. having a factory adapter for the tranny of choice to 203 is a big part of it. its alittle easier for an auto, but a granny 4 spd and 203 are not so common. the adapter between the range boc and 2nd transfer case doesnt look like such a big deal,so once i make that ill send the 203 shaft to moser to have it resplined.

i dont have the $$ to buy a doubler, either if it make ya feel any better tongue.gif ;)

My goal is to put the 300ci I-6 4 speed manual and NP205 out of a late 80s Ferd F-150 in Wagothing before it's all said and done.

The Ford 300ci I6 is a great torque engine.
Post some pics when you get it all in there.
